In June 2023 we were asked to provide full performance stage, equipment, and technical support to the West Bridgford Proms. This is a large-scale community event attracting over 5000 attendees. It is an opportunity to see local acts such as choirs, brass-bands and cover acts. It is an all-day event running from 11am to 10pm with food and drink suppliers as well as local business market stools and local charity attractions.
We provided our Alspaw 8m x 6m mobile trailer stage, complete with PA wings and rear/side scrim. This is perfect for large scale outdoor events and gives any event an amazing focal point. This stage gives the opportunity to hang lighting from the stage roof structure and PA from the PA wings either side. These PA wings can also be fitted with branded acoustic mesh which allows the sound from the PA to travel through the branding fabric.
The stage was the first part to be installed by our highly trained stage crew, ensuring that the stage is erected safely and to all health and safety standards.
For an event of this type and size, it was vital that we had plenty of sound coverage. For front of house we hung 16 Electro-Voice XLE181 Line array cabs in 8-a-side formation as well as 4 Electro-Voice X-Subs. This provided a nice punchy sound. We also installed a delay stack situated further into the crowd to fill out sound for the back of the field. This was done with 3 additional XLE cabs and a single X-Sub. For control of this equipment, we provided one of our specialist sound Technicians with a Behringer X32 digital mixing desk and a line-array amp rack. We used our full band microphone package which contains a collection of microphones suitable for a vast array of uses such as instruments, vocals, and overhead mics.
The client requested that there be some branding showing details of the event sponsors, we proposed that we could use acoustic meshing that hang from the PA wings in front of the line-array. We received the logos from the client and created a layout that meant the logos could be maximised and visible from afar. The design was then exported in a hi-resolution format. These images were then printed on acoustic meshing material which allows sound waves to travel through to the audience.
To power the sound and lighting equipment as well as food and drink suppliers, we installed a 40kva diesel generator. We distributed cabling via our 63a/3 rubber box with a collection of 32a and 16a cabling. We had to ensure the power draw for each stool/area was well covered and that the power was spread evenly across each phase on the generator. We monitored the generator throughout the day ensuring that there was no health and safety risk to the public or any risk of the generator reaching capacity.
